Interesting book. I will certainly be picking up the others in this series.

Pro's: the author painted a fairly accurate picture of society as a Disney Cruise line. Everyone will have mandatory fun selected from this list of pre-approved, committee-vetted, and focus group tested activities. In this bubble wrapped world, there are always a few people who don't fit in. Love the concept and it is a story that needs to be told. Speaking of love, the love/like/friendship issues in this story were not overdone and actually quite believable. Nice.

Con's: Plot armor on the main characters was a little robust. Which led to a somewhat predictable resolution. I get the impression the author is a lot more acerbic, sarcastic, and cutting in his/her observations than came through in the writing. And if I read day/week/yearstretch as an unimaginative local idiom one more time I'm goingstretch to throwstretch somestretch through a windowstretch. Actually, it isn't that bad, but it is noticeable.

There are two juxtaposing ideas that I could never reconcile while reading this book. One, society is a corporate controlled, every cog in its place, do as you're told citizen -for your own good. On the other, life is a constant struggle for survival. It made the conflict seem a tad contrived.

In the end, the author is guilty of providing a book with the same safe veneer as the world he/she is railing against. And that is what was the most frustrating in reading this.

This is a truly interesting sci-fi book, but somethings are hard for the reader to understand. Or at least to me they were hard to understand. I am not a sci-fi person unless it involves Star Trek with James T. Kirk and Spock. (lol yes part of the older generation.) Still the author has written a good book that is interesting. I liked the characters Sally and Terry.

This is my opinion on the book it does not reflect the book or the author. For your own opinion on the book please take the time to read it.

The bunnies and I give this book 3-Carrots.
I read this while vacationing this year and found it to be a great read. Fast paced and full of twists, it keeps the reader interested and constantly thinking about what's coming next. Can't wait for the next one to get published.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The dystopian, cynical future of the Bunker is perfect for Wasserman's brand of acerbic satire. It made me chuckle in ways that reminded me of Terry Pratchett's work, if Sir Terry were a lot angrier about life. I'd definitely recommend this for anybody interested in satirical science fiction, as well as those looking for a good adventure story.
